                Assalamu’alaikum wr. wb.
First of all, let’s thank to Allah The Al Mighty who has given us such a mercy and blessing, so we can join this occasion without any obstacles. Secondly, may I introduce my self, my name is Nahla. I’m from SMP MTA IBS Gemolong. And here I would like to present a speech with the theme “BE GREEN GENERATION”
Dear audiences…
Everybody knows that the world is changing at a rapid pace and affecting the environment around us. Things like hectic climate change, polluted air, acid rain, depletion of the ozone layer, global warming and an increase in poverty prove that there is a big problem faced us and needed to be solve immediately. Imagine this. One day we come out from our house and all we see big puffs of black smoke and no trees!  All we hear cars and no birds! All we smell gasoline and no flowers! What kind of life is that????
While a large number of people out there realize those numerous environmental issues are already knocking on our door, only a few of these people are actually trying to do something to save the planet. So let’s begin it now, start from the simplest and nearest things around us. We need to take strict actions to this issue as an individual in our own way. We don’t need to wait for governments to find a solution for this problem: each individual can bring an important help adopting a more responsible lifestyle: starting from little everyday things. It’s the only reasonable way to save our planet, before it’s too late.
Dear audiences…
There are some simple things we can do today to help reduce our environmental impact
First, be efficient in using energy. Energy saving helps in building up a green home, certain strategies contributing to energy efficient homes can be implemented. Switch off the lights when there are not in use, wash clothes in cold water as washing machines consume lots of energy in heating up the water. Change over all of our light bulbs to more energy efficient ones. Unplug appliances when we’re not using them.
Second, shopping green. Watch out of our buying habits. Try to borrow and share books and movies instead of buying them. It saves money and paper. Do not buy bottled water, instead, use water filters to purify the water. The bottled water is not only expensive, but also creates a lot of container waste. Buy aluminum water bottles rather than plastic ones when travelling or at work.
Third, use green products. We can start using locally manufactured products and not choose the products which have been imported from outside. It saves money and time and also boots local business. For instance, if we are planning to refurnish our house with new furniture, you can always buy products which are locally available are eco-friendly. Make sure to always opt for green products, for example, when buying electric appliances, look for the energy star label. Products having this label are designer to save energy emit minimal waste material.
The last, make a conscious effort to keep a check on what you eat. Go for green products in the form off organic foods. Always buy fresh products from your local seller, which will help in boosting up the regional economy too.
Okay I think it is enough up to this point, I am sorry for any mistake. Thank you for your attention and one again “PLEASE BE WISE”
                Wassalamu’alaikum wr. wb.
